QUOTE
Capt. Ian Drăgănescu, his HC had stalled on 5 March 1940 on no"9" - KIFA,

Wrong.

On 5th March 1940 Capitan Ion Draganescu making slow rolls at low altitude lost his life with Hurricane nr. 10 ( not 9) .

Hurricane nr." yellow 9" was still airworthy in 1941-'42 on the est front and Black Sea defence ( see picture below).

QUOTE
One Hurricane was lost prior to the war, another one was shot down by Soviet fighters in Sept. 1941, a third one was destroyed on ground when Soviet fighters strafed the front airfield later in the same month, and a fourth one was flown to Turkey by a defector. The rest were written off while serving as trainers.

So before the war( 5th March'40) Hurricane nr.10 was lost with Cpt. Draganescu Ion.
In Sept. ' 41, Cpt. Rosescu "Puiu" Ioan was shot down by soviet fighters ( the only rom. Hurry shot down by enemy) with Hurricane " yellow 4".
I don't have in my database the tail number of the Hurricane ( ex Yugo ??) destroyed on the ground by soviet strafing attack ( at Salz airfield). Anyone knows more ?

QUOTE
Hurricane No.8 defected on 26.08.1944.

That means in august '44 was still airworthy at least one Hurricane ( nr.8)and used probably for Black Sea defence . I believe that Cordescu take off to Istanbul from an airfield close to Black Sea ( Mamaia or Cocargeaua).

Indeed, No. 9 was reported by I.A.R. Brasov as under repair in a report dated at the end of 1941.

Hi

The "no 4" was shot down by pilot of 69. IAP (I do not know his name) on 12 IX 1941 according Soviet between 10.05-11.00 south-east of Grosliental (Gross-Liebenthal) near Odessa (they claimed him as a Spitfire or Hurricane).

"No 15" (ex-VVKJ Zemen Zmaj produced) was destroyed by Soviet air attack on 22.IX.1941. Most probably by 69. IAP, commanded by Lev Schestakov. They made several such air assults, supporting Soviet land attack.

On 1 February 1944 ARR inventory had 10 HC of them 5 servicable.

Reagrds,

MirekW

The last photo shows that this particular ex-Yugoslav Hurricane had fabric covered wings (see the earlier heated discussion on this topic).
