As you know, the 'W' is very rarely used in Rumanian langiage (similarly to 'K'). Therefore I don't think the badge has any connection to Rumania.
An off topic story: talking of 'W', rumours say that just before leaving the White House, Clinton's men (and women) removed the W from ALL computer keyboards... |

I bought something like this some years ago... It is probably a fantasy, but not a modern one. It ressembles to the Order of the Crown of Romania, with the liberal motto "Prin Noi Insine"...

Here is an official studio photo of Queen Mary of Rumania:
What medals is she wearing? |

It's a badge with ex-king's Michael cipher... Since it is far from being sharp and looks to be cheeply made of some alloy of bronze and brass, I think it's a modern copy for royalist fans, or maybe for veterans...
Nice photo... Mary wears on the left shoulder what looks to be the Order of the Royal House, Officer (?) class... The first plaque she wears just below the Order of the Royal House, is the Order of Carol I, just like in boonicootza's avatar. Below the Carol order is the Order of the Crown of Romania, Mare Cruce (Great Cross). And below that one, I don't know (maybe a French award?!). Best regards, Getu' |

It looks like the star of the French Order of the Legion of Honour. However, it is partly hidden under the sholder ribbon. Off topic: The sapphire medallion she was wearing was sold 10 days ago in Geneve by Christie's auction house for CHF 1,916,000.00. Carol I |

There is something strange with this order. The badge seems indeed that of the Order of the Ruling House, but the ribbon is different. The ribbon of the Order of the Ruling House was silver with three black stripes (sides and middle). In contrast, the ribbon in the photo is dark with light stripes on the side only. Dénes, do you have a photo with better resolution? Carol I |

No, that's all I found on the 'net. However, this photo appears to be commercially available, so there must be a few copies "out there". |

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=2206589552 Getu'[/quote] WSW means "Wojskowa Sluzba Wewnetrzna" - "Internal Military Service". It is from Poland, used till 90'. WSW it was something like military police or internal intelligence unit in the army. Bage was worn on the collar (two). |
