Today (09.05.2006) at 13:00 took place the opening of the exposition "Carol I and the Romanian army 1866-1914". Also this event precedes the Open Gates at MMN, this weekend (13-14.05.2006).
This was the first exposition opening at which participated King Michael and Queen Ana; there participation brought lots of people at the opening, many more than at a normal opening. So here are some pictures, most of them are taken at the last rehearsal as I couldn't take good pictures because of the many people and TV crews. More will come in the next days. Preparing to leave in formation. In position. The artillery crew and there gun. Thaking 4,5 steps. To make way for the gun. Preparing to move the gun in position. Preparing the ammo. Loading the gun. The King arriving. Listening to the Royal Hymn and the National Hymn. PS If anybody is interested look at the news at 19:00 especially PROTv as they took many interviews, including with the king. Ex king Mihai...
I wonder,Duda is not around? He must have been promoted to the rank of general by now (the soviet model). |

Yes, he’s not reigning anymore but undoubtedly he is the most distinguished and decent of the whole people present there. A real Royal presence.
Prince Radu was also present, even if he’s not on that photo. The MoD granted him the permission to wear the uniform of (honorary) Colonel in the Romanian Army. He came in that uniform. I think he is a reserve officer as all students performed short term military service before 1989. |

Kepi,
I wonder if you really think what you just said... Not "on topic",but the day duda got into the royal fam, that day came the end to them. Good work from the psd. And you hear this from a person who a lot of people in his family were close to the palace and never had a single comunist party mamber in the family (so I won't be called dif. names). And btw, since when is duda a prince?he's a son of an comunist activist! And why he deserves so much credit? For spending the country money abroad? |

C-2, in the USA, former presidents are still called 'Mr. President'. So let the King be a King.
Gen. Dénes P.S. By the way, is that General's beard for real? This post has been edited by Dénes on May 10, 2006 01:47 pm |

Since princes are also made, not only born. All the aristocrats were ennobled sometime in the past. Radu Duda is only a recent "addition to the ranks". |

I agree!
When you adress to the king, you call him " king". When you talk about him,or write about him,he's "ex king"! When you talk on tv about Bill Clinton, you'll never hear "president Clinton" but "former....":. This post has been edited by C-2 on May 10, 2006 05:46 pm |

True,but every time there's a military eveniment,he's around.
For someone who is a colonel and recieving this "honorific rank" after "studiing at the military college and his diploma was made by Benone Neagoe,it's shameful. |
