Hello,

I have attached a picture of a cross which I cannot identify, but I believe there is some connection to Romania.

Mystery Cross

I know that it looks similar to the Queen Marie Cross but the longer limb is quite different. Can anybody help me with identifying this cross please? Was it an earlier version on the Star of Romania? Is there some other military or maybe religious order which used this cross? I have reason that this is connected to the period of 1872 to 1881.

Really looking forward to your help!

Greetings from London!

Peter

Looks more like a Germanic Wolfsangle / runic symbol and bears no relation to any

Romanian award that I know of.

It also appears that your pictured symbol is on a sword blade!

Hi New Connaught Ranger,

Thank you for your response. The cross is indeed on a sword blade.
I agree that this is depicting a Romanian medal or award but I feel that this very special cross might have some relation to Romania, given that the sword also bears the coat-of-arms between 1872 and 1881.

Maybe there are some other ideas floating around?

All the best,

Peter

Hi Peter

why not show more pictures of the item,

it might give us a clue to what we are dealing with here.
