The Roumanian Air Force was one of the countries who has used the SPAD S.61/2 biplane fighter.
During the first part of the thirties there has been a competition for a new fighter for the Air Force.
The aeroplanes who were tested were the:
Avia BH-28, Siskin III, Fokker D-XVI and the SPAD-SET.

The SPAD-SET was a modified SPAD S.61/2.

All these aeroplanes were powered by the Armstrong-Siddeley Jaguar radial engine.

Now I found in a Roumanian source that the SPAD-SET was powered by a Lorraine-Dietriech W engine, I think that is a mistake, becouse the Jaguar engine was requested.

Who can help me with the following information/materials?
1. Drawings/pictures of construction details of the SPAD S.61/2;
2. All kind of information/drawings/pictures etc. of the SPAD-SET
3. Further everething else concerning the construction and the SPAD-SET.

Thanks
Jjr

As far as I know, that competition was held in the second half of the 1920s.

The contest from the early thirties had, as a result, the selection of PZL P 11 b as the main fighter for the Romanian military aeronautics.

Thanks for this information.

But is there anybody who has information/materials concerning the SPAD-SET, the one which was used in the competition during the second half of the 1920's.
The one which was powered by the Armstrong-Siddeley Jaguar radial!!

Does anyone know who are the romanian pilots near the Fokker DXVI?

The third from the left (with cigarette) looks like very much with my grandfather.
Thank you very much!
