I had a boyhood friend who was killed in the Ploesti raid 8-1-43. His name was Lt. Roy Harms and his body was never found although his dog tags were. The name of his plane was "HELLS ANGELS". One of his crew was taken prisoner, 3 bodies were later identified and 6 were never found as they were burned to a crisp. He was in the 329th Bomb Squadron, 93rd Bomb Group.

Anyone have any information on this crew? Or the circumstances of his shhoting down?

Thank you,
LeRoy Paulin

You may consult the thread Tidal Wave Footage Photos for details on the mentioned 1-8-1943 attack on Ploieşti. Hells Angels is mentioned several times in that thread.

"Hells Angels" (Roy Harms plane) was hit by AA and crashed on the hill of Chitorani village (NE Ploesti).

Cantacuzino: From where my friend Roy Harms was shot down, do you think he dropped his bombs on his target or was he shot down with his bombs still in the bomb bay?
I am new on this web site and trying to figure it out.
