Ships in Romania under foreign flag
in the Second World War were 15 Tugs under Greek flag 9 Tugs under French flag 1 Tug under Italian flag on the Danube in the employment. With the goods boats still the flags of Belgium, Great Britain, the Netherlands etc. came. My question: What became from these ships 1944/45 as Romania became communist?

There is an album published in 1943 including all ships in Romanian waters, the were more than a hundred with self propulsion and much more barges. Be more specific.

After the war and during the communist period in Romania activated, sometimes having good contracts, SFND - Societe Francais de Navigation Danubienne. They sold some of their 100 years old ships in Germany and Austria in 1992-1995 as the tug Friederich Mistral and Lavoisier. So, we may say, the French interests were very well guarded.
Greek ships were mainly sold to the Romanian or Bulgarian Governements. |
