One of my favorite pieces is this silver Cavarly award cup Awarded by the officers of the Guard Escort Regiment to Lietenant Gheorghe Magherescu. For those who do not know, Gheorghe Magherescu during WW2 later became Aide de Camp and personal Adjutant to Field Marshal Antonescu. He also wrote an autobiography book about his life and service.
Cup is engraved and reads as follows : Insignia badge for the Guard Escort "OFITERII REG TULUI ESCORTA REGALA" "CAMARADULUI LOR" "LOCOTENT MAGHERESCU GHEORGHE" "1 OCTOMBRIE 1933 - 1 OCTOMBRIE 1934" |

Do you have information about Colonel Magherescu? Especially after the war. Had he problems with the communist regime? Is he still alive?

He wrote a book together with Iosif Dragan, written mostly in the form of a dialogue between the two. This rather large book was then published by Dragan.
It's quite interesting in the sense that it relays little-known anecdotes from the war. However, the book can hardly be considered an impartial, objective historical work. Colonel Magherescu clearly admired, almost worshipped Marshall Antonescu, and he does not hide this fact throughout the book. Overall a very interesting read. |

Royal Uniforma Collector,
the image of Margherescu that you posted is gone. Can you repost it or at least confirm that this him? |
