I've just ordered the Airfix Bf 109 E Trop and hope to build the aeroplane of Adjutant Tiberiu Vinca, Yellow 64 of 7 Group.
If anybody can give me indications of the camouflage colours, I'd be most appreciative. Even better, would be Tamiya or Gunze Sanyo paint references. Cheers, Dave. |

Hello Dave, It was just released the book 'Romanian Fighter colours" at MMP editor. in the book you will find (among other romanian fighter planes) 16 color profiles of romanian bf 109 Emil. At the end of the book there are annexes with chart with the dimension and types of crosses and roundels used on Romanian aircraft and a table with types of colours ( FS, Tamya, Gunze, etc) identified by codes that can assist model builders. Anyway the main colours for romanian bf 109 emil were Dunkelgrun RLM71 (uppersurface) and Lichtblau RLM 65 undersurface. Here is a link were you can order the book (Personally I will get a copy next week) http://www.martola.com.pl/en1238/produkty3...lours_1941_1945 This post has been edited by Cantacuzino on October 23, 2010 06:15 am |

I have to double check, but I believe 'Nella' could not be seen at Salz (Zeltsy) in 1941, because it was handed over by the Germans only later on. And the German style flying gear was not introduced until early 1943.

You are right Nella was among the 15 planes E7 (mostly E3 and E4 refurbished airframes) received in 1942. But anyhow this is art not a document. The artist could take some advantages puting the planes wich looks pretty cool toghether. I would like from an artist a more interesting romanian Bf 109E subject. The Karpovka/Stalingrad battle. Imagine how will looks 3 or 4 Bf 109E with names on cowlings ( Nella, Don Pedro,Hai fetito) with tail lifted on fuel drums, shooting with their 20mm cannons against soviets t34 tanks in a harsh russian winter night fight. |
