Hi Romanian aviation friends.

I have two questions for you:

1) Please, do you have anybody information about air competition of reconnaissance and bomber aircraft in Bucharest on autumn 1928?
In Bucharest were test in these time these aircraft - Letov S-116, Letov S-216 (Czechoslovakia), Amiot 122.BP2 (France), Vickers 146 Vivid (Great Britain), Fokker C.Ve (Netherlands), Junkers K 37 (Germany), Aero A-30 (Czechoslovakia) and unknown type of Italian firm Breda.

2) What was first (Christian) name of Gen. Rudeano (I have information that Gen. Rudeano was in the late of twentieth commander of Romanian air force.)?

Thanks for your possible help.

Best regards, Marcel Kares from Czech Republic.

He was General de corp de armata Vasile Rudeanu.

By the way, who won that contest? Because none of the mentioned airplanes types saw service with ARR.

Was it by any chance the "Little Antanta and Poland" contest in 1929 ?! That particular contest was won by major Gh. Jienescu.

There was a similar contest also in 1928, when mr. Emanoil Ionescu and his pilot (lt. Nicolae Iliescu?) won second place.

I believe we are talking of two different issues.

The purpose of the contest mentioned by Marcel was to select a bomber airplane type to equip ARR.

The air race Max-Fax was referring to was a military-sporting event, which was won the the best team.

More likely to select a fighter plane for ARR.

5 - Romanian Capt. Tr. Paelea, Dewoitine D-27 C.1

I believe is about Cpt. Traian Paclea (not Paelea).

No. That contest was held later on, between July and October 1930, called International Fighter Contest. Interestingly, not the actual winner aircraft type was eventually ordered by the ARR, but the 4th placed one.
More details in my upcoming two-part study, to be (hopefully) published in Model-Ist magazine, No. 3 and 4.

Gen. Dénes

I'm very interested in this text. I can send you some additional documents, if you like (more than was used in 1st part of my article from "Lotnictwo" 12/2006).

Hi Romanian friends.

Mr. Cantacuzino has a little truth. In Bucharest on autumn 1928 were test together with reconnaissance and bomber aircraft three fighter aircraft also. There were test English Avro 567 Avenger II (civil registration - G-EBND), French Nieuport type probably Nid 623 or 62.C1 (civil registration F-AIPO or F-AIPQ) and fighter version of Fokker C.Ve.

On all reconnaissance and fighter from this contest in Bucharest I have photos from this contest.

Marcel.

Thanks for the piece of info, Marcel. I was not aware of this side of the 1928 contest. What was the outcome?
