Tîrgoviste Cavalry Regiment

I´m researching about my grandfather in WWII.Can anyone help me
I know that he presented to his regiment in 1942, Ferbruary I guess, a cavalry regiment in Tîrgoviste. His comander was Colonel Georgescu.
I need info about wich regiments were based there at that time, and than discover where he fought. My grandfather died in 1979 and he never spoke with my family about the war. His gratest pain was to loose his horse, thats how i know he belonged to cavalry. I imagine that he never reached a high rank mabe just locotenet

The 10th Motorized Rosiori Regiment was based at Targoviste from what I could find out.

Victor is right as far as I know. In addition to that was an AAA unit in the city (independent from the Rosiori regiment). I've also hared about an artilery training camp near Targoviste in '42, but I couldn't find any historical refferences, so I don't know for sure.

But you should know that not only cavalry units used horses. Many infantry, artilery and support units extensively used traction horses and in some cases messangers and scouts were horse riders.

In Targoviste was also the Center to Mechanized troops training.

Thank you guys for all the help, but I´m a little lost. I thoght would be easyer. What about Colonel Georgescu? Nobody knows about such regiment comander? I think he is the key to discover more about my grandfather. My mother told me that after war they continued to meet, they devoloped a friendship during war my grandfather was like a son for him.Booth of them lived in Tîrgoviste after war.
What about the year of 1942?

There was maj. Aurel Gerogescu in the 4th Rosiori Regiment in 1941. By 1945 he was lt. col. and was commanding the 2nd Calarasi Regiment. He recieved the Mihai Viteazul Order 3rd class two times. But the name Georgescu is pretty common. Maybe is not him.

how can I know about the regiments in 1942. There are files ore something like this in army records?
It´s realy important to me know more about my grandfather.And the first step is to know in wich regiment he served.

Summer Visor cap Model 1934 worn from 1934-1939 belonging to the Commanding Colonel of the 10th Roshiori Mechanized Cavalry Regiment from Targovista. The regimental colors are gray. The same color as for armor tank units. The difference is that the 10th Roshiori Mechanized Cavalry contineud to wear the cavalry insignia on the front of their visor caps. The Model 1934 visor cap is distinguished by the very large size cap insignia that dressed the front of the visor and a small rim top body. These cap insignias were scaled down to 1/3 - 1/2 the size after 1939 and during WW2.
