Did Romanian Army use some of these tanks? In achtungpanzer.com Panzerkampffagen II page it's write "It is an unconfirmed rumour that probably after the war few saw service with Lebanese Army (probably from Romania)."

The only thing I coluld find related to this thing is the following phrase on "TANKS!": "Existing armor of Soviet origin was confiscated by the Soviets after the Romanians switched sides; the Romanians had to make do with existing or newly captured AFV's of German origin."
Maybe through those captured German vehicles could have been a few Pz 2s (as I don't think the Germaqns were still using any Pz 1 in 44-45, but some Pz 2 were still used as scouts). I never hared of any Pz 2 used by Romanian Army, but is possible that a few eventually captured pieces were sold to Lebanon, as the Romanian Army didn't need them. Another strong possibility is a confusion regarding the type of tanks buyed by Lebanon. The utility of the old, poorly armed and poorly armored Pz 2 after WW2 is doubtfull. |
