Here is an order bar from collection. Nice bar though I have no idea what the sixth decoration is... I have another order bar I will post later. |

What is the Cultural Medal for?

Well, i guess it's for culture. I think the ribbon lost it's original colours who were blue and black meaning it was awarded for merits in sports or physical education.

Well, I see. Culture is a broad term... I would have thought sports would have a distinctive medal.

There were 8 ribbon types for this medal, each for a different domain. Yours may also be for "social works".

There were actually 9 ribbon types for the Order for Cultural Merit. The section on Straja Ţării introduced in 1937 is usually overlooked.

The Order and Medal for Cultural Merit were awarded for achievements and merits in the following areas (which defined the categories of the order and medal): - Letters - Theoretical and practical sciences - Arts - General culture - Religion - Education - Physical education and sport - Social works - Straja Ţării |

No tag on the reverse side of order bar.
I have another order bar that belonged to a Doctor. I will post it this week. |
