The map tiles are organized the following way (North up): 11 12 13 14 15 21 22 23 24 25 31 32 33 34 35 41 42 43 44 45 Various locations: Bistrita - 11, 21 Piatra Neamt, Suceava, Dorohoi - 12, 13 Botosani, Roman - 13 Iasi - 14, 24 Chisinau (Kishinev) - 15, 25 Bacau - 23 Ramnicu Valcea, Curtea de Arges - 31 Brasov - 32 Galati, Braila - 34 Tulcea - 35 Pitesti - 41 Bucuresti, Ploiesti - 42 Buzau, Calarasi - 43 Constanta - 45 |

The member of the bomber crew, owner of the icon, may belong to various backgrounds. His family could be American immigrants from: -Rusia -Greece -Romania -Serbia -Bulgaria -Turkey, Egypt etc. (Christians fled from a Muslim country, like the surviving Armenians) This post has been edited by Florin on October 05, 2004 06:48 am |

Below is an interesting photo montage made by a German PK unit in 1942.
Of interest is the wartime official crest of Rumania, which I haven't seen so far, and the country's borders to the East, apparently incorporating Trans-Dnestra as well. Gen. Dénes Attached Image |

The Germans made an error, which suggests an unofficial item. The crest they used was the shield in the old coat-of-arms of Romania from 1872. During WWII the 1921 coat-of-arms had been used. |
