This is a large order bar with many decorations and orders. This must have belonged to a medical officer. Michael the Brave heads up the bar followed by Order of Star and Orders of Crown. |

By the way, I need help ID'ing many of these medals. As you probably know, Romanian medals are not well known in the USA. The WWII decorations may be but medals of earlier periods are not.
>Military Order of Michael the Brave (third class)
1st type"1881-1932", Fredinand knig era.
Indeed first type, but this type was used between 1916 and 1941, not between 1881 and 1932. |

Was this 1st type Michael the Brave awarded during WW2 or was the 2nd type in existance before the war started?

The first type badges of the Order of Michael the Brave were mainly used for WWI related awards up to the end of the 1930s. The second type badges were introduced in 1941, but it seems that before they were manufactured some of the WWII awardees received badges of the first type. |

Are there records of who received what type? I would be interested to learn who was awarded these 1st types in the early 40s.

Major general Nicolae Dascalescu was the one awarded the 1916 version of teh 3rd class and Antonescu received the 2nd and 1st classes of the same model. In rest all other MV Orders were either 1941 or 1944 models.
This happened because the two were the first Romanians who received the order during WWII in August and September. The rest were awarded from 8 November (St. Michael Day) onwards, with King Mihai I receiving the first model 1941. |
