This is my german ww2 breadbag, wich seems to be a late version, but yet i don`t know if it was a Wehrmarcht or an SS one or the front it was used.
The only missing things are the slings. Along with it came this leather belt wich i guess was used to hold the messkit( please correct me) So,anyone better than me in identyfying this breadbag? ( no markings) |

Yet and another question: i would like to know what the hinges on the back and front were used for.

It's an original WWII bread bag, but the long leather strap attached to it is not original as are the two D rings that hold it.
Here are some nice links that will help you see what area all the attaching points for. http://www.mp44.nl/equipment/breadbag.htm http://www.mp44.nl/equipment/field_bottle.htm http://www.mp44.nl/equipment/mess_tin.htm |

So,looks like i was wrong. I have a early war model, due the leather reinforcement on the straps.
By the way,is the communist model of the fieldbottle fitting on this breadbag( for reenactment purposes)? P.S. When i will wear it i will sing proudly the Frankerreich Lied This post has been edited by Messerschmitt on August 03, 2007 05:11 am |

A new addition to my collection - a breadbag of some sort. I guess it's Romanian, from the ww2 era. I've took a picture of it (the one to the right) next to a postwar one (the one to the left).
Both have almost the same size. I couldn't find any markings. And as a difference the postwar one has the inside divided into two sections. So what do you think? Any opinions are welcomed. -------------------- ®

I'm not 100% sure but I can say 90% that it is a WWII bread bag or at least as WWII-ish as my 1942 bread bag ( http://www.worldwar2.ro/forum/index.php?sh...ad%20bag&st=120 ) unfortunately it's missing the two attaching points for the canteen.
Could you post some more pictures of it with the inside. |

The attaching points for the mess kit and the inner strap were removed. This bag might have seen some "civilian" use after the war and those parts were not needed anymore.
