In the second photo, the general on the right could be Ermil Gheorghiu. As for the army major/lt. colonel/colonel wearing the Commander class of the Crown of Romania, he will be very difficult to identify.

Here's another one, from the same lot of original negatives.
Judging by their pants, are the two soldiers from the cavalry?
Does the NCO at right hold an MP-40?

The guys passionate by uniforms are much better informed than m, but i presume the NCO's are from infantry, judging about the "moletiere".

The NCO from the right carries a MP40.

1941, part of the Staff (Statul Major) of the Romanian Mountain Corps.
The first officer on the left, Captain Paul Basarabescu, my grand-father.
In the center, the CO of the Mountain Corps, General Avramescu.

One year later, 1942, also the Staff of the Mountain Corps (parts of it).
The first officer on the left, the painter Panteli-Stanciu. In the center, my grand-father, Major Paul Basarabescu

Great photos.

Here is my attempt at correcting the color balance for summer daylight:

Splendid photos and absolutely unknown even if they are propaganda images. ohmy.gif

The second photo is reversed. The soldiers hold the weapons on the left shoulder.

The Village Museum hosted a display of some of Willy Pragher photos last September. See here: http://www.worldwar2.ro/forum/index.php?showtopic=4239.

Don't know if this is a particualrly well known picture. I took it from the book, "Tol'ko mig" ('just the moment')

The other photo should be reversed too. The German NCO should have the breast eagle on the right side and both tunics should be buttoned on the right.

The Romanian soldier is a Corporal and is strange to see that he still carries Carol II cipher on his helmet. The photo must be made in summer 1941, as the German still wears the first model of tunic with dark green collar and shoulder straps.

It appear that Carol II cipher on helmets were still used in numbers on eastern front. wink.gif Picture from Freiburg Staatstsarchiv.
