I'm looking for information on a particular incident from the Romanian point of view and would also like to know if any similar cases occurred.
June or July 1944: German 3rd Mountain Division was being relieved from its positions by the Romanian 4th Mountain Division. Behind the front a car accident occurs involving soldiers from both formations; this results is a brawl which escalates in a short fire exchange leading to a death of 2 Romanian soldiers. In the next days the senior commanders of German/Romanian units managed to smooth things over but once Schörner heard about it, he sent the 3.Geb.Div.'s commander on home leave never to return to his unit again. Thanks Marko |
