Privet' Cyril,
Below is an excerpt from my book on ARR, published by Squadron/Signal: "The Rumanians’ major commitment to the Axis’ 1942 war effort was at Stalingrad. The air element of the expeditionary corps sent there was still called Gruparea Aerianã de Luptã (Combat Air Grouping, or GAL); however, the main combat component was now concentrated in a separate unit, called Corpul Aerian Român (Rumanian Air Corps, or CAR). There were 29 squadrons under GAL command (19 directly attached to CAR), with 272 miscellaneous aircraft types on its strength. Starting with mid-September 1942, the ARR units selected for front service began to arrive in the Stalingrad area. Their main task was to support German-Rumanian troops in their push to capture the key city." Dénes |
