Did the Romanians have a test centre equivalent to Farnborough in Sngland for the tesing of capttured aircraft?

What aircraft were tested?, what use was made of the information gained eg tactical notes for pilots?

Were any captured aircraft used operationally?

Generally the IAR factory did the testing of captured Soviet or American aircraft. From memory they tested: I-16, MiG-3, A-20 Boston, Pe-2, P-39. They also repaired several B-24Ds and there was a plan to create a B-24 squadron.

After 23 August many German aircraft were captured and they were impressed into service, but they obviously did not need to be tested.

The romanians made avaible 4 B-24 at IAR Brasov. Even the romanian king , Michael , was co-pilot on one of this. A veteran from my town who was there during the war said to me that the soldiers spoke a lot that the romanian king wanted to ,, run to americans" biggrin.gif
