I found an interesting article (although a bit old) about an italian doctor who saved many romanian lifes on the eastern front russian P.O.W. camps.
http://www.expres.ro/politica/?news_id=138917 It's a shame that such brave men don't recive any recognition from today's political class. |

In a war every man is a hero and they will remain heros until they are forgoten. Did you know that the great German WW1 fly ace von Richoven (or something like that) was killed by a simple soldier who hasn't even a photo? That's why the war doesn't determine who's right, only who's left. The same goes to heroes and aces, they became an ace/hero because their comrades of arms remembered them and told their stories. My hero is my grandfather, God rest his soul, who fought in WW2, was taken prisoner by the Russians and then escaped from the POW camp and returned home.
