I don't like abstract art like the above proposal. If we're not going to build a proper mounument because of budget limitations, then we might as well not build one at all. unsure.gif .

We need to come up with better ideas and something more original, ww2 heroes don't deserve just a cheap stone thrown over their head. Maybe we are to wait until better times will come(if that will ever be dry.gif ) , when the land will be more prosperous and a proper decent monument will be put there and not something temporary like this. Also the attitude towards World War II needs to change in Romania, and perhaps the dead from that war, and from previous wars will recieve more attention, and the honour they deserve.

this one looks nicer, but there are more, and better ones can be build.

A little off topic perhaps, but I find it very strange, and halerions at the same time how in schools, -like in history-, we talk in one class about heroes who fought, died, sacrificed for the land, for the nation state.. be it Romania or US,..
and we build monuments to them, and look at the longs list of names and say they fought for better times, for the continual existence and future of this land and people....

and then, (during next class) we talk about Globalization, and how good it will be and about the multicultural world, and democracy, and about the horrible wars of the past that yielded nothing, and then we learn that THE ONLY WAY of peace and coexistence is to give up National Identity, to Give up our sovereignty, and blend with other races, and with ugly peoples who share nothing with you in common, who have no respect for your country nor give a damn about it's history nor about it's dead soldiers, and ironically these are peoples who your ancestors fought bittery for decades, or centuries to keep them out of this land...
Now they come in unhindered, and behave as if they are at home...

I find it funny, really, how the teacher talks positively about the "Global Village", and Multiculturalism, and for a ONE WORLD - which goes exactly against the principles of Patriotism and sacrifice for the Nation State...which we learned in the previous class... dry.gif
