Hi Guys,

There exists a presentation album prepared by the Luftwaffe in wartime Vienna in, I think, late 1943, which is held in the documents section of the Imperial War Museum in London. It contains page after page of illustrated charts showing what equipment the Luftwaffe had delivered or had allocated to Romania. The Fi167 is on the list. This is presumably the origin of the error. They were never actually delivered and went instead to the Croats. (It seems a shame, as they seem to have had considerable potential against submarines).

As Denes points out, an article on the ARR in a reputable British aircraft magazine of the early 1970s mistakenly includes the Fi167 and a number of types actually received by the Bulgarians.

There is a tendency for us to combine lists from different sources on the assumption that they are therefore more accurate. Unfortunately, in this case some later authors have made their lists less accurate by including this mistaken data.

Denes's more recent publications have rectified these errors.

Cheers,

Sid.

Yugoslav AF has used 3 examples of Fi 167 after the WW II.

Do you have any documentation to this effect?

Here is one photo of the Fi-167 in post-war Yugoslav colors (note the flag on the rudder). At least one example of this model was among the various types of aircraft that were destroyed as "junk" few years after the war, by the order of then-CiC of the Yugoslav Air Force (Fi-167 died with Blenheim Mk.1, Junkers Ju-188, Dornier Do-17K, just to mention some of them). So there is not a single one left on this Earth.
