The president has promulgated the law, which again makes the MV Order the highest Romanian military award. The new thing is that it can be awarded for actions carried out during peacekeeping missions.

Yes ,very interesting!
And I belive that the first who will get this award will be the "the greatest general af all generals" mr.Angel Iordanescu, the general who I belive his knoledge about military is as high as mine about footbal.
Playing and wining against Albania, Bangaladesh or something like this is surely going to get him this medal!!!

The order should look just like the 1916 version, but of course without the royal cipher and crown.

The new badge of the Order of Michael the Brave is a blue cross flory with the gold eagle in the coat-of-arms of Romania on the obverse. On the reverse, to the ends of the horizontal arm are written the years 1916 and 2000. The badge is surmounted by a half wreath of oak and laurel leaves. The ribbon is crimson with a gold stripe on the side.

Another new thing is that the first class of the order is now a four-pointed, brilliant-shaped star, bearing the obverse of the blue cross in the centre.

Wow! Thanks for the info Carol I! I'm now making an image of that new award, for the first time! Did you ever saw an image of it? If you have other images of those new awards, you can poste them or send me an email

Best regards,

I did not see the new badges of the Order of Michael the Brave, nor any images of them. I only gave their official description.

I would also like very much to have the new badges of the Romanian orders or at least their images, but this far I have not been very lucky. I could only obtain three badges: an Officer's badge of the Order of the Star (civilian), an Officer's badge of the Faithful Service Order (civilian) and some sort of a specimen of the star of the Grand Cross of the Order for Merit (military).

The image of the Officer's badge of the Order of the Star in my collection was posted in Military orders and decorations of Romania.

The badge of the Order for Military Virtue is a blue Ruppert cross with a white border. The cross has in the centre a blue medallion with the gold eagle of the coat-of-arms of Romania, surrounded by a white ribbon with the inscription VIRTUTEA MILITARĂ in the upper part and three stars in the lower part. On the reverse there is a central metal medallion with St. George slaying the dragon, surrounded by a white ribbon with the years 1864, 1872, 1940 and 2000. The military badge has a circular green enamelled oak wreath between the arms of the cross. The badge is surmounted by a half wreath of oak and laurel leaves. The star of the order is eight-pointed, made of rays, bearing in the centre a white medallion with the gold eagle. The medallion is surrounded by a blue ribbon with VIRTUTEA MILITARĂ in the upper part and an open laurel wreath for military personnel or three stars for civilians in the lower part. The ribbon is crimson having on each side a narrow silver stripe to the inside and a broad blue stripe to the outside.

The wartime military badge has two crossed swords placed between the arms of the cross (and beneath the central medallion for the Grand Officer's star). The ribbon has an extra gold stripe on the edge.

A new order that could be awarded to the military has just been established.

The Order for Valour and Faith continues the tradition of the Medal for Valour and Faith established in 1903. Its badge is a red Maltese cross with a white border. The cross has in the centre an oval red medallion with the gold eagle of the coat-of-arms of Romania, surrounded by a white ribbon. On the reverse, the medallion has the inscription 1903 BĂRBĂŢIE ŞI CREDINŢĂ 2004. The military badge has two crossed branches in gold, a laurel one to the right and a palm one to the left. The badge is surmounted by a half wreath of laurel leaves. The star of the order is a brilliant Maltese cross, bearing in the centre the cross of the order. The ribbon is yellow with a gold stripe on the centre and having on each side a red stripe to the inside and a blue stripe on the edge.
