40 mm Bofors gun m/1934
I think this picture earlier posted by Woj shows the original Bofors m/1934 gun that was tested in Poland 1935. The carriage wheels only have five holes in the wheel disc. The series production had eight. To the best of my knowledge there was only one m/34 gun made. It was owned by Bofors. The first series deliveries were 8 m/35 to Belgium and 8 m/36 to Austria followed by 60 m/36 to Poland. Stellan This post has been edited by Stellan on December 02, 2004 08:23 am Attached Image |

Thank you Woj & Dénes for these very interesting pictures!
I think those are Swedish-made guns from the first batch delivered in 1937-38. The wheels are eight-spoked and has 5 bolts. Polish made guns I think had wheels with 6 bolts. I am not certain about the sights. The target calculator (predictor) is one thing and the sights another. So far I can only identify 1) early Zeiss sights with no cover hood 2) younger (post 1937) Zeiss sights with cover hood 3) Aga-Baltic sights also with cover hood but vertical front. These sights look like Aga-Baltic but are shorter. This delivery photo from Bofors 1937 shows a gun for export to Poland I think. Sights for Poland
No, the document does not mention type of reflex mirror sights. Bofors did not make them but bought them from Aga-Baltic (Sweden) or Zeiss (Germany). So it could be Aga-Baltic. But what date (or year) was this contract signed? Enclosed: Aga-Baltic sight. (Source: Swedish Army manual 1943) Attached Image |

It's a pity. I was sure that document would be helpful. The contract was signed in Warsaw - 21 January 1936 (from the Bofors side by B. Boström) Attached Image |

Przeziernik do 40 mm armaty przeciwlotniczej wz. 36? Something like this? (I have sent you this picture some weeks ago, I suppose)

You are right Woj!
It solved a lot of questions when I saw the contract date. In January 1936 Bofors had since December 1935 orders on 60 guns for the Polish Army and was negotiating for anorther 20 to Belgium. So I think Bofors bought 160 sights (= for 80 guns) of the Zeiss type to be license produced by SA Polskie Zaklady Optyczno. I enclose the picture you mailed me some weeks ago. Attached Image |

Sorry, the downloads are too big. They do not open. I think JPEG max 500 pix and 72 dpi should be enough. I have found that TIFF with 300 dpi costs a lot of MB:s. |
