I write and copy + paste some about bulgarian deals with helicopters, for new shopping and for up grade, and i say it - i want Romania too, to buy new helicopters, to had more capable helicopters.
Now i write: i'm sorry for our neighbors.. Bulgaria Calls a Halt to Mi-17 and Mi-24 Program Source: Elbit Systems Ltd. "HAIFA, Israel --- Elbit Systems Ltd. reported that it received today notification from the Bulgarian Ministry of Defense announcing the stoppage of the tender process for the Mi-17 and Mi-24 helicopter program. This follows the company's announcement on December 21, 2004 that the team led by the company and Lockheed Martin was selected as the preferred bidder for the program. The company is exploring with the Bulgarian Ministry of Defense the implication of the announcement and the possibility of resumption of the negotiations. The program has not been included in the Company's backlog of orders. Elbit Systems Ltd. is an international defense electronics company engaged in a wide range of defense-related programs throughout the world, in the areas of aerospace, land and naval systems, command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance ("C4ISR"), advanced electro-optic and space technologies. The company focuses on the upgrading of existing military platforms and developing new technologies for defense and homeland security applications. " Iama |

Robinson. Very funny!
Seriously, I think that Romania is on the right track in it's defense acquisitions. They appear to be seeking advanced, inexpensive systems, it can make and sell itself. If they make the item they use, and also sell it to other countries, this effectively makes them an advanced fighting force, subsidized by their own industry. |

Buying second hand Puma helicopters from Portugal will be a reall bad thing. We have Pumas and we can produce ten more. And portuguese Puma is not so advanced like our SOCAT.
