In due course of the war sever MIG-3's have changed hands into ARR ....the first MIG-3 arrived as a Ukrainian defector brough it in , the other were captured by the Germans and Roumanian troops. The total was 6 or more and were painted in the ARR and Luftwaffe replica and were used by Cantacuzino Sqd primarily for training purposes...I am looking for photos from this period Thanks Al |

Many thanks for your info, I have all these photos...I am actually looking for more detailed photos such as squadron photos, cockpit layout and eventually coloured photos from some museums in roumania or abroad Mile Grazzie Al |

There was no "Cantacuzino Squadron" and the MiGs were flown just to test their abilities and were not used for training. I haven't seen any other MiG in Romanian colors except for White 2 of teh 19th Observation Squadron.

Many thanks, I know there wasnt any Cantacuzino Sqd but there are some reports and photos of Cantacuzino teaching air to air on that type of aircraft for training purposes. ARR had at least 5 of the in flyable condition Alex |
