Hello, I'm a new member.
Till which year after ww2 was the Romanian "Dutch" steel helmet used, I understand that a Soviet style steel helmet was employed for a period before this was replaced by the new "dutch style" helmet was entroduced.
I was in Romania this summer and seeing the army anti terrorist manouvers on the news, I noticed that the traditional romanian stell helmet is still used by artillery soldiers and other second line troops.

When I was in the Rumanian Army, in 1982/1983, we still used the Dutch helmet, IIRC.

Those weren't Dutch helmets, but Romanian model 1973 helmets, which have some similarities with the Dutch helmets.

You may found some additional info on the Romanian Model 73 steel helmet in the following site, maintained by someone who has a really BIG helmet collection:
http://www.cascoscoleccion.com/

After opening the list, just check the Romanian entry.

You're welcome! Please note that the guy who puts the site together is updating it at a more or less monthly rate; I am always tuned to see whatever he adds to the helmet database.
