Romanian Air-Force Generals' Ranks

The today Generals' Ranks for the Air-Force seem a bit odd to me. We have
General de Flotila Aeriana (OK)
General Maior (in stead of de Escadra sau Divizie Aeriana)
General Locotenent (in stead of Comandor)
General Inspector (OK)
If Gen. Locotenet is slitelly acceptable, Gen. Maior is unacceptable. The rank is Lt-cmdr. for God's sake.

I understand.
What I mean is that the rank of Gen. Mr. has no meaning since the rank of major has the equivalent of Lt. Cmdr.

The ranks of major general and lieutenant general have been used by Western army for decades. What's the problem?

The problem is that the Romanian Air-Force has a special type general ranks like the R.A.F. for example. A mixture of those ranks and the Western ranks seems a bit odd if not laughable. And as I said the equvalent of Maior in the Air-Force is Locotenent-Comandor, so does not it seem a bit odd to have the rank of Gen-maior when the rank of Maior has an equivalent accepted ??!! This is my point. I hope it is understood.

The idea was to have the ranks that most of the NATO countries use after the US model. That is why the "general de armata", "general de corp de armata" and "general de divizie" were renounsed (unfortunately) and teh major general, lt. general and general were adopted instead.

Ok.
But the French have been in NATO for some time now and they still hold the ranks that good-old Petain said that they will never change (if the discution must lead to this, But I think were breacking away from the main subject).

Hm! France is not a good example in NATO membership. In some ways, France is a "rebel" country/black sheep, etc. France had power to make what she wants. We, in oposit point of view, have a "kiss-ass" action, and who knows when we stop doing that. "Hey, americans, you see? We are dressed like you, we drink our type of juices, we smoke your type of cigars, we .... - Our generals have a good rankink models of yours, of course with a different salary..."

Like "summer is not like winter", Romania is not like France.
