I have received the following email today and almost deleted it because the Spam filter thought it was unimportant.

QUOTE
I have found some evidence on the IAR 39 shot down near voderady (czechia)
on May 8th, 1945.
a man told me he has dismounted an ignition magneto from the plane after the
crash.

did the IAR 39 have a BOSCH magneto???

thanx for your reply.

From what I knew the IAR-39 had a Scintilla ignition magneto. Is tehre any possibility there were some with Bosch?

First of all it is sure that it was an IAR 39. Maybe it was an IAR 38 with BMW ( 9 cylinders)engine with Bosch magneto.
More details about the magneto ( 14 or 9 cylinder type ) could help.

I knew about this report for a long time (from Mr. Androvic), but could not find a matching loss (yet) in the Rumanian archives.

However, there was an I.A.R. 81C lost the same day, around Mihiovice. Could it be the same incident?

Do you have confirmation that the aircraft was indeed a biplane?
