MAB38's thread remembered me about an interesting subject: Italian Airforce fighting side by side with ARR - I remember reading about this in 2 books but I would like to get more info about it (as much as possible), so please, if you know about the 3 italian brothers thet flew side by side with Gr. 7 Vt. against the VVS say something.

Well, the three Ruspoli brothers actually were... one, Cpt. Carlo Maurizio (he is mentioned in my Osprey book on Rumanian aces, page 19).

Unfortunately, the legend of three "Ruspolli" brothers, fighting side-by-side with the Rumanians, only one surviving the 1941 campaign, was perpetuated for long time, based on the vague memoirs of former ARR pilots. I also initially took the info I heard directly from veterans at face value and mentioned it in my Squadron/Signal book on ARR, published sometimes in the last century biggrin.gif .

(I already read about the italian mission in Romania in 1940 in the squadron/signal publication smile.gif ).
