This was recieved by my dads uncle. he served in ww2 and this is what he got. i need help becasue id really like to know what it was for. on the back (instead of the eagle up front) is "1941-1945". is this medal just for service or what?

It is the World War II commemorative cross.

Here is the Law - in romanian.

(1) Medalia se conferã tuturor militarilor, asimilatilor de orice grad si personalului civil încadrat în unitãtile militare care au participat la campaniile armatei române din perioada 1941-1945 si au calitatea de veteran de rãzboi al armatei române, conform Legii nr. 44/1994 privind veteranii de rãzboi, precum si unele drepturi ale invalizilor si vãduvelor de rãzboi.
