ARR warplanes were also caught occasionally by gun cameras mounted on USAAF fighters. A blurry still from one such combat film, showing an I.A.R. 80 being shot down by a Mustang of the 52nd F.G. NW of Bucharest on June 23, 1944, is included in a recently released book on the unit, by Ivie & Ludwig, page 107.

You'll be disappointed, Mytzu. The still shows only a blurb, that vaguely resembles an I.A.R. 80.
One can only discern the yellow engine cowling and wing markings. That's about it. sad.gif

the first thing I thought when I saw the "Pe-2" was: This is a Ju-88. I am pretty sure about it.

Here is the promised still from the gun camera of a 52nd F.G. Mustang.
As I said, unfortunately, not much details can be seen.

I'm wondering, how was this snap shot taken? While the Mustang was approaching the '80 perpenticularily, from the above? Or perhaps during dogfight, when the Rumanian fighter made a tight turn in face of the the American?

I think it was taken during a deflection shot.
