Oops I posted the same picture twice. I wanted to do this one. For somebody not familiar with the IAR I found the aerial mast the most original feature of the aircraft and the biggest headache for a modelr. A mast that starts in the cockpit and protrudes outside through a hole...I think only the Zero had a similar setup and the mast was behind the pilot not on the side like here...

Here is a visit of Antonescu at Pipera in 1943 visiting I/4.JG, in the middle Ober Leutnant Hans Wilhelm Schopper Kommodre der Jagdgeschwader who was credited one B-24 during TIDALWAVE from Battailes Aeriene

Here is a rare photo never seen before of the famous Luftwaffe ace Major Wolfgang Falck in white shirt sent to Roumania to improve and make additional recommandations on the Ploesti air and ground defense....from BATTAILES AERIENE

An other photo of my uncles depicting the Roumanian 86th Regiment on a training mission ...the OLD BALDY crashed on the battery 7th of the 86th regiment. The training location is not at Ploesti

Here is a photo never seen before of Major der Luftwaffe Douglas Pitcairn ( strange German name) in its operational room near Otopeni who was the one to detect the TW raid and alert all airfileds and A/A stations including those less unmanned who were on Sunday leave

There was no Romanian 86th AA Regiment. Maybe 8th, but that one was in Dobruja, not at Ploiesti, and was created in July 1943. |

Remarkable photos never seen yet anywhere of the BREWERY WAGON and a "flying dog " ( must have wondered where the crew was gone ) from Battaile Aerienne ,...I wonder where he got them from !!!
