Also do me a small favour , look at the chart and tell me the the exact distance by air in miles( statute or nautical) or Km on course of South /SE of 160 degree from Targoviste to Lacul Snagov and from Ploesti to Bucharest on course South 180 degree to Boucahrest Otopeni
Also can you or somone else try to locate German Luftwaffe Anti Aircraft Coordination Center Bunker in a village near Otopeni where Maj Douglas Pitcairn operated ...I have posted the photo of the Bunker some 3 full screen ahead of this screen...let me know Thanks Alex |

As far as I know this bunker was in the south area of Otopeni airfield. Today it's the military aviation unit and military transport airfield area south of Otopeni airfield. When you are in a B-737 landing on the main runway you can see the military base and planes (Antonov An-26, Hercules ) on the right . It is also posible that bunkers could be also at the entrance in Otopeni village ( right side of the bridge) where today its a military unit too. PS: Alex i sent you the Otopeni military unit badge in your pack. |

Otopeni is a village. And Otopeni airport it's named "Henry Coanda' today and it's in the middle of Otopeni village ( close to the north side). The german bunkers were probably somewhere from north of Baneasa forest to the south of Otopeni airfield. The other village around Otopeni is Tunari NE of Bucharest , Balotesti NE of Otopeni airfield. The only way to make pictures ( for your issue) is from the air. ( sorry i don't have pilot licence). Because that bunkers should be now in a military zone!!! Other opinions ( hey Bucharest guys where are you hiding ) Dan. |

Alex why ask only me to do that ( i was never good at mathematics and geography) . Other members on the forum could check the map and make the calculation. Personaly I need time to make other stuff for topic benefit ( mayby a color profile of Old Baldy ? ). Dan. This post has been edited by Cantacuzino on January 28, 2005 01:08 pm |
