QUOTE (Victor @ Dec 12 2004, 06:46 PM)
slt. r Matila Costiescu from the 3rd Artillery Regiment, Order of St. George 4th class in silver

I found something:

22 September event - 1877

"Istoria artileriei romane in date" Leut. General Victor Stanculescu, Col. Constantin Ucrain

Iama

PS - Maybe somebody translate with accuracy this fragment, i doubt Igor Ost knows romanian language.

I remember seeing a (rather poor) photo of Marshal Alexandru Averescu wearing a white cross like that of the Order of St. George fourth class of the Order of St. George. Did he receive it during WWI?

Did any other Romanian officer receive this rare Russian military order during WWI?
