Men can forget, records don't. It seems he was in the 43rd Fighter Squadron in 1944. Maybe cainele franctiror next time he goes to Pitesti could look him up in. After I go back to the Air Force Museum and start working on the VA list again I will see if I can find him there.

He was also most of the time part of the 8th Fighter group, (he says it himself quite often) and only a very short time part of the 2nd as stated in the Book on Romanian aces by Dénes.

How many aces were in the ARR? Did they fly Romanian plains or did they also fly in German Me 109's?
What about the Romanian bombers, if it existed, what kind of aeroplaines they used?

According to my tally and considering the late-war ARR standards of awarding victories, a total of 126 Rumanian fighter pilots were 'aces', i.e. with at least five victories.
However, if going with the Western standards, "only" 59 pilots could be considered as 'ace'.
It's worth noting that 1/3rd of the 126 ARR aces were killed in action.
