There are 2 models of gunsights in the National Military Museum in the aviation hangar. One is original "Goerz" model used mostly on IAR 80 type and the other is "IOR"reflex model used mostly on IAR 81. For long time I wanted to make pictures of them but the price for one single picture is to high for an ordinary romanian budget. Maybe if will be more than one interested in taken pictures we can share the cost. |

Ok, great news. I was thinking to get as many pictures as posible with IAR 80 original parts for a future walk around. As for 1/5 scale ( big thing ) ofcourse it's a serious buisness. |

Interesting is the year Dicesare spent in jail:
He was arested after the "securitate "listened to his phone. He with too other pilots wanted to steal a plane and to run "away". They arested him one night, and he was keept without any trial for a year in Pitesti. (in jail). After exactly a year he was given a one way ticket to Bucharest and was set free. After a few weeks ,he met a friend from the airforce at "Calea Victoriei" who told him ,in secret, that there's a witchhunting going on,and it'll be better if he'll leave for a while.... Dicesare went home and saw a car in fron of his house. He packed some things and waited. When he saw that in the car was only one person left and the other two went out ,he asked his mother to open the gate, and he mannaged to run away with his Ford V-8. He with another friend ,and two girls ,went to a monastry or churche ,up in the mountains ,where he knew a priest .They remained there for two months. Afterward there were no more problems. |

oh well the commies were specialists in killing the great Roumanian Aviation history ....when was he take in prison and what for ? did they make a trial ? Why didn't he get out with Cantacuziono to Spain when the time was right ? what kept him to live in Roumania after Soviet arrived overthere ? Did he indeed exhaust all his chances to escape ? how come they let him keep the iron cross ?

The source is an article written by Cristian Cantacuzino a whule ago in Avions. If you would have actually forwarded the list of questions I gave you twice for Dicezare, maybe we would have had better knowledge on the subject.
So he wasn't discharged in March 1945 and arrested in 1948? |

You surely meant Craciunoiu, not Cantacuzino. By the way, if my information is correct, the article(s) published in the French magazine 'Avions' were not written by Mr. Craciunoiu. Gen. Dénes This post has been edited by Dénes on December 22, 2004 05:33 pm |
