I'd like to built a resin 1/72 kit of TACAM R-2 SPG. The only thing I know is that these tank-hunters were khaki overall. Would somebody tell me what shade was Romanian WW2 khaki - the best choise would be an Humbrol color number.
And the second question - what markings did these SPG's wear ? I know that all of them got to the combat after armistice with U.S.S.R. and they'd fought against Germans from Romania till liberation of Czechoslovakia. This is why they didn't wear old crosses, but maybe new khaki stars in white circle, or three-coloured circular sign, I guess. And what about tactical numbers or other marking ? I've seen no photos of combat-ready R-2.... Thank in advance and greetings from Czech Republic ! Gerry |

Welcome to the forum, Gerry!
Here is a coloured drawing of a TACAM R-2, published in the Romanian "Modelism" magazine: As you can see, the overall color is khaki, with a light blue band across the superstructure, and with an ARR style cross on the engine hood for aerial identification. There seem be no other markings. I have a folder with Humbrol color codes, but it is quite old and I don't know whether the codes are up-to-date. Here are the shades I believe resembles the most the overall painting: 72 (Matt Khaki Drill) and 155 (Matt Olive Drab). |

Thank you very much ! This is exactly what I need !
And here is another question..... Czech producer Attack began to produce an Praga R-1 tankette in 1/72 scale with Romania marking. Now we've discussing with my friends if these tankettes got tables with registration numbers only on frontal side, or on back of vehicle, too....? TIA, Gerry |
