Hello Johathansia,
The Kar.98K was used, but in fairly small numbers. The Romanian army had plenty of excellent Czech-made vz.24 rifles. I don't know the exact number sold, but the guns soldiered on well into the post-war period. As for the P-38 pistol, I know nothing about deliveries to the Romanian armed forces, but I would like also to know about it, if that happened, of course... I had the chance to inspect MP-40's exported (in very small numbers) to Portugal and Spain during the war years and none was stamped with the national crests, only very tiny acceptance marks. Please bear in made that the MP-40 was a modern gun, basically made from stampings in order to avoid expensive machining and lathe operations. It was not well suited for stamping an elaborate national crest as, for instance, the machined front ring in a classic bolt-action rifle. Happy New Year to you too! Cheers, Ruy |

During the spring and summer of 1943 some 4,000 MP-41s and 440 MG-42s were delivered to the Cavalry Corps on the front in the Kuban.

Victor,
Do you know figures for the Beretta 38 SMG's supplied by the Italians? And what about the MP-40? Was it used by the Romanian forces?? Cheers, Ruy This post has been edited by Ruy Aballe on December 29, 2004 09:07 pm |
