Photo from Stalingrad 60 years after fight.
The large beam, near a take-off strip Pitomnik.
Here Romanian soldiers and officers too lived.

I've seen this picture in "Stalingrad: The Infernal Cauldron" (by Stephen Walsh). The caption said something about defending the 6th Army's flanks.

What's the actual name of Stalingrad? I've searched an old map and compared it with an actual map and I couldn't find this city.
Thanks in advance.

I found this pix some time ago on the Internet. It seems they are Romanian soldiers going into soviet captivity after the battle of the Don Bend.

You can remark the “caciula”, the white or black fur hat, which was belonging to the Romanian winter equipment. Beside the Romanian column you ca see the soviet soldiers.

This one is interesting - I assume it is on the left flank of german 6th army since in all docs I read it says on the right flank held by romanians there were no trees no nothing.

I found some interesting maps with the positions of the Romanian 1th cavalery and 13th infantery divisions near Stalingrad in October 1942.
