Carol, I understand but the Russians were highly disapproving Roumanian King and his regime even after Aug 23.1944 so howcome they would wear monarchial medals ?

They were also disapproving the US, yet there are photos with Soviet officers wearing awards of the United States.

Exchanges of medals have indeed taken place in those days. Probably the most prominent one was when King Mihai was awarded the Order of Victory, being thus one of the very few foreigners who have ever received it.

I think I remember seeing a photo of King Mihai I (there was not a second King Mihai) wearing the order at the 1946 ceremony of returning of Mircea, the school ship of the Romanian Navy, but I am not certain unfortunately.

6 July 1945

The Romanians conducted joined operations with the Soviets since September 1944, so it was not unusual that one country awarded distinctions to the soldiers of the other one and vice-versa.

A high quality replica (given the very small number of actual awards, I think this will do to get an idea of how the badge looks like).
