I still believe that the badge worn by Yevstigneyev is that of the Order of the British Empire. Take a look on the British Monarchy web site where you can see a better image of the badge of this order.

Indeed Carol good job we finally entagled the mistery....bellow the monument of Col.Safonow in his hometwon..it is the British Empire Cross and yes indeed also regarding the DFC

I would like to continue the topic with the top Russian ace Alex Pokrishkin (59 aerials ) who always fascinated me, the father of the new air tactics after the painful losses of VVS begining of the war , a great pilot,tactition , perosn and commander. When the war has started he was in Moldova stationed ( Moldavian Republic) . Attached is a photo after his marriage received from a friend who knows Svetlana Pokrishkin ( daughter)
