QUOTE (Barbosu @ Jan 21 2005, 12:24 AM)
Hotel "High Life" was situated in front of the Royal Palace and next to Carol Foundation Bldg. (today, the Central Universitary library). In the back we can see Athenee Palace Hotel (with the old version of the exterior) and on the left, a little of the Royal Palace.

I don't know if "High Life" was demolished by the earthquake in '40, by the bombs of WWII or by communism. Now, in it's place is the parking near Cina restaurant.

The building was demolished during the time of Carol II in order to open up the view of the new Royal Palace.

Infantery Heros Monument in Bucharest (1930)

Is it true that this monument no longer exists? What was the reason for demolishing it? Where was it placed?

In the background one can see the monument of the Heroes of the Teaching Staff which no longer exists. Do you know the reason why it has been dismantled?
