Victor,
Last year or so I started to look for Old Bucharest pictures for personal study (hobby?). I gathered over 155 MB (hundreads) of electronic pictures from: city hall collections, some from "sector" city halls, friends architects and journalists, internet sources. Unfortunately I don't have an inventory of them as I didn't think I'll be posting them anywhere. I can say I have in this "collection" all the pictures posted on this topic (exception: bombardments pics and other few) The original sources of all those pictures: public archives and museums. If you consider there is a problem with that, please feel free to delete them. Cheers, Barbosu |

NO! I didn't scan them. They were already in electronic format. But they are generally known an used at a large scale, as I told you. For example, some of the photos posted here are also on this link: http://www.miculparis.ro/foto/foto_demult.html#poza2. Cheers, Barbosu PS. Now please anyone tell me where was that? I think this is the begining of Calea Grivitei, from Calea Victoriei, in that case A BOULEVARD IS MISSING!!! So, maybe I am... WRONG!!! Ok. Now I have to go and I think I will pass through that part of Calea Victoriei today. Attached Image |

Barbosu if you don't own the photos themselves, I must ask you to only post those that you know where you got them from. Otherwise please don't, as I will delete them.

Thanks Victor. Anyway, all copies I post are mine to do whatever I want with them.
About the last panorama: I passed today on Calea Victoriei and I can confirm: that is a picture of Calea Grivitei. The palace in the low left of the picture is now the Museum of Collections (built berfore 1900) and to it's right is the present Writers' House (in former Monteoru House). Behind the Writer's House there is another building with pointed roof. Today that is Balcic Gallery. In the right of Writers' House and Balcic Gallery it is a high wall/fence and a parking for Cazino Victoria. In the picture: M - Museum of Collections W - Writers House G - Balcic Gallery P - Parking of Cazino Victoria (today) A - New building of Romanian Academy (today) B - Dacia Boulevard (today) I - Mathematics Institute (today) Apparently in that time there was no street from today's Cazino Victoria to Stefan Furtuna str. (Dacia Blv I think). Barbosu This post has been edited by Barbosu on March 03, 2005 12:22 am Attached Image |
