I recall seeing a picture of supposed Romanian workers welding on 20mm plates on these tanks for extra armor.
I was wondering if anyone else knows about this actually happening or if I am just confused with something else. Thanks! |

I haven't seen that photo, but it would not surprise me. Some U.S. M-4 Sherman tanks had extra armor welded on (especially on the outside the part of the hull where the ammunition was stored), and the Germans, Italians and Soviets hung or welded extra lenghs of track onto the outside of the hull. Sandbags were also often placed on parts of the hull.
