Some interesting photohraphs from a French book on Stuka dive bomber,
"Stukas!, Avions Allemands d'attaque au sol, 1933-1945, Herbert Léonard editions heimdal." These show Stukas of 6th Dive bomber group - grupul 6 picaj in Russia 1943. This post has been edited by Der Maresal on January 17, 2005 04:58 pm Attached Image |

The Caption reads " Une >>kette<< de Ju-87D-3 roumains du Grupul 6 picaj, opérant en Russie aux cotée des Stukas du 1. Fliegerkorps en été 1942."
This cannon be however.. no Stukas operated in summer 1942.. or did they? Attached Image |

The depicted Ju 87D was part of Grupul 3 bombardament usor in picaj, which started operations on the Eastern Front in the early June of 1943. Stukas of the 6th Dive Bomber Group wore 3-digit serial numbers on their fin. Gen. Dénes |

The source for these photographs themselves as stated in the book is (ECPA).
What could ECPA be? ...E..'collection particulliere d'aviation.. something like that? Attached Image |

ECPA is the acronym of the official French military archives. These originally were German Propagandakompanie photos "liberated" by the French after the war. Gen. Dénes This post has been edited by Dénes on January 17, 2005 06:54 pm |

..from the same book, earlier in the pages...
"Un Hs 123A (ou B ) avec son pilote. Notez les lanieres de cuir qui servent de fermoir a la trappe juste derriere le poste de pilotage. L'homme, un as Roumain, au centre porte la <<Croix de Fer>> autour de son cou."[ECPA] A Hs123A (or B ) with it's pilot. Note de leather straps that serve as a 'zipper' on the trap door just behind the pilot. The man, a Romanian Ace in the center, wears the Knight's cross of the Iron cross around his neck.[ECPA] Who could this 'Romanian knight's cross holder be, serving with the Luftwaffe ? The book ....
I have this book from a trip to France in 1999, ... I must say I picked it up for much cheaper then 104.95 Euro as stated on Amazon.fr . source for the phots is from ECPA, French archives "liberated" from the bosches in 1945. |

The pilot is German, not Rumanian (one shouldn't necessarily believe everything that's been written and published). BTW, no active Rumanian combat airman received the Ritterkreuz. Gen. Dénes |
