Yesterday, 4 January 2005, a detachment of 40 soldiers and 4 IAR-330 SOCAT helicopters left from the 90th Transport Base for Banja Luka, in Bosnia, where it will be integrated in the EU led ALTHEA mission. It will be the first official mission carried out by the modernized IAR-330s

See article in Adevarul daily (in Rumanian), with a pompous title: 'The Rumanian Air Force Begun the First International Combat Mission After World War 2'.

I especialy enjoyed the part in wich the helicopters are blessed by the priests (nothing against it) - the RoAF is with it's mind still in the 40's!

I do not see what is the problem regarding the priests? Isn't God the same as He was in 1940? Traditions need to be revived and preserved, especially after 50 years of Communism. |

As I said, I have nothing against it, actualy it is a good things for those soldiers. But that's not the point. This way we are not better then the Musslims who fight in the name of Alah. The bllesing was somethig official and not a request of the participants. Religion is for people and not for politics. All the factions involved in the European theatre in WW2 were fighting in the name of the same God. No army in this world is the Army of God. We should have learned from this and move forward. |

It appears to me that you are contradicting yourself. First you say you have nothing against it, then you say that we could very well do without it. I don't understand what is wrong in praying to God.

Was I? I said that religion should be for our personal use and not a political instrument.
