Phone: 231 05 66. He lives on Ceikovski Street in Floreasca.
C-2 and I attempted to go visit him recently, but apparently Dumitru Chera hasn't been feeling to well lately, so good luck.

I also wanted to meet him earlier this year, but he reportedly told to the person whom I asked to mitigate that he doesn't feel well enough.

However, at least I could see his log book at someone else (but could not copy anything from it). sad.gif

I met Chera about 14 months ago.It took me weeks to make him to meet me.
It was just before Easter ,and he was exepecting some people.I stayed about one hour.He was nice but not in good shape. He could barely walk.
He told me some stories, and we did fine.
He's log book is at his house at the country, but he doesn't go there anymore.
A few months ago I called again and talked with his wife, who said he's ill and in very bad shape and it's imposible to comunicate with.
I'm sorry I missed him ,becoause he lives just near my mother in law,and it was easy to get to.

Victor can you please help me more with photos of Lt Comodor D.Chera from war time ...I found only a few ......and one from the newly established Forzele Aeriene Romane in 1947 ...according to the uniform he seems to wear the rank of Major (Maior de Aviazie) or Sub Locotenent ( it doesnt make sense) ....I also saw a photo posted at Horizontul Aviatic of a B-17 desintegrating over Roumania and a B-24 caught in flames...were these gun camera photos from ARR ?

Thanks
Alex

Here a spectacular photo posted regarding Chera on Horizontul Aviatic...was this B-17 air kill taken over Roumania by ARR gun cameras or was it copied from elsewhere ?

Alex

Alex,
No Gun cameras were use by ARR in combat.
Soon you'll get photos with Chera.

These are well known photos, published several times in various books. I doubt they were taken over Rumania.

.....

Are you sure?

IAR-81C Ace Muresan say different in his book.

I'll soon quote him regarding gun camera footage in the ARR.

If Dicezare, Dobran ,Anastasescu,Chera,Marinciu,Georgescu,Stinghe,Axente,Capbatut and other fighter pilots say they never had or heard about a gun camera in use by the ARR in combat, that good enought for me.
Bed time stories are a lot. wink.gif
