According to Martin Block's researches Romania was sold some but exact details are not known. http://www.feldgrau.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=28700 It looks like they were sent in May 44. http://forum.panzer-archiv.de/viewtopic.php?p=160703#160703 This post has been edited by Alanmccoubrey on December 16, 2013 10:21 pm |

A romanian Panzer III Ausf N (fitted with a short 75mm. gun) received by the 1st Armored Division direct on the front, in the Don Bend area, september 1942.

In fact the Recce platoon / R. 2 C.L., during the fightings in Czechoslovakia and Austria, had some 250/9s. I have a book written by the platoon's commander and those AFVs are clearly mentioned. But I can't find the book now!

In August 1944, 9 Sdkfz 250/9, 4 Sdkfz 250/5 and 4 Sdkfz 251/9 were transfered from the 1st Armored Division to the Mechanized Troops Training Center. Most likely those were the backbone of the APC force that was sent to Hungary with the 2nd Tank Regiment in March 1945. |
